Biography

Hi & Welcome to our website

We are the Rosely Ceilidh Band  and we all originate from the County of Angus, Scotland.

Our band consists of a trio of young musicians, with some additions to the band on certain occasions.

Allan Smeaton  (18) -  Accordion & Midi, Allan will also walk you through any dances that you may not be sure of and will give you the names of any tunes you may like.

Lisa Laird   (21) -  Accordion & Midi

Alisha Smeaton  (19) -  Drums and Percussion

Plus

Ewan Barrack   (19) - Keyboards on occassion (in picture above)

Although we are quite a young ceilidh band we have some great talent and have over six years experience within the music industry already.

We have been over to France several times now with the Gordon School of Dancing from Montrose, and keep getting asked back to play with them, which is great.

We have also been at a few local Accordion Clubs as guest artists, including Forfar, Montrose, Arbroath, Ladybank, Glenrothes, Windygates, Banchory, Aberdeen, Cults, Turriff, Banff and Dunfermline. We are heading to the Blairgowrie Accordion Club in July and heading back to the Aberdeen one in April 2011 as well. Here are a couple of pictures of us guesting at the Windygates & Forfar Clubs:

In June 2007 we were one of many guest artists at Keith Festival and had a marvellous response from the public and we were delighted to accept their invitation for us to play for them as guests again in June 2008! On our first visit up to Keith in 2005, we were asked to come down to Keith Community Radio Station and do a short half an hour recording piece for them to air on the radio that day. Here is a picture of us in action at Keith Comunity Radio with DJ John Sievright.

We have done a few guest spots at Angus Accordion & Fiddle Festival over the years in 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008 , 2009, 2010 and 2011 as part of Steven Carcary's Young Accordionists and more recently in our own right as the Rosely Ceilidh Band.

We had our first experience of the Shetland Accordion and Fiddle Festival in October 2008 and as expected it was an absolutely amazing weekend. We just went up on our own accord to establish ourselves as a band and have a few pub sessions on the way and were delighted to get asked to play as the guest band for a dance at the Festival in 2009, unfortunately we had to turn it down as some of the band are on holiday in October 2009, but we must have shown great potential as a band up there which is great. We are venturing up to Shetland again in October 2011.

We can cater for most kinds of functions including:

  • Birthday Parties
  • Weddings
  • Dances
  • Dinner-Dances
  • Concerts and Shows

...Whatever the occasion, please don't hesitate to get in contact with us and i'm sure we will be able to provide you with some great entertainment.
