Info & Guest Book

Here is some handy information and helpful hints if you are thinking of booking a function:

Venue Considerations:

  • When booking your event, try to view the room where it will be held. It is best to have a room without a small wooden dancefloor (made of blocks) set up in the middle as it is easier to dance on a floorboarded floor than try to dance around a raised floormore suited to disco dancing.
  • Ensure the venue has a safe supply of electricity for the band's equipment unless you want an un-amplified band.
  • It is quite useful to have a room which is not  L-Shaped of with the bar in a seperate room, as you will find people tend to disappear. Better to have one rectanguler room with integral bar where they can stand and watch or hopfully even be encouraged to join in!

Band Equipment:

  • We have our own PA system. Part of this system includes an mp3 player / ipod which is used to create background music durings our break(s) but it can also be used at any point during the evening. If you have a CD or track that you particularly want played then we will be happy to do this. You can also provide the track you want played on an mp3 player / ipod and we will connet this through our PA system for you.
  • All the equipment we own has a current PAT (Portable Appliance Testing) Certificate and comes with a certified sticker. This PAT Certificate will be asked for most venues from bands.
  • We also require a small table to set some equipment on in the stage area.

Helpful Hints:

  • When booking a band for a function always get a contract so it is all above board.
  • Make sure you advertise you gig - people must know about it!
  • If you are booking us for an event you would like to publicise, please letus know at the time of the booking, we have many ways of getting the word out to others and it may even help sell out your event, better still.....it is free!
  • We only play Ceilidh Music, but as said above you can use our equipment to have other types of music played or you can hire a seperate disco.
  • If you plan to have a disco as well as Ceilidh dancing it is better to have to Ceilidh dancing first and follow with the disco rather tan alternate the two. This is because the Ceilidh dancing builds up throughout the evening and having breaks usually interrupts the momentum.
